I called my son’s doctors office to find out about how his iron test came back and they told me it came back normal! Good, he is healthy and I can quit worrying about it. Here are some adorable pictures of my cute little baby. Also, everything went fine with Amanda and she went home on Thursday.

My little boy just turned 9 months on the 19th and he just had his check up today. He weighed in at about 19 pounds 1 ounce, about 28 inches long and his head was 46 inches around. He didn’t get any shots today but he did get a routine screening for iron. It was his first time and what they did was they used this little device to poke his finger and then this other thing to absorb the blood that dotted at his finger tip. He didn’t even cry during this. It was a quick acting test that gave them results in minutes.
So after the nurse was finished with all her routine stuff the doctor came in to start his physical and he said that the test came back borderline and so he had to go to the lab and get blood drawn to see if there actually was an iron issue. The quick thing they do in the doctor’s office isn’t always accurate and so there may be nothing to worry about. I am going to be worrying until I call for his results on Friday though. His doctor said that he does look very healthy and that there is probably nothing to worry about. He didn’t cry when they drew his blood either. If they do find out that he has too little iron then they will just give him some vitamins. I really hope everything is fine. His next check up is at 12 months. I can’t believe he will be 1!
Currently he likes to say things like “baba” and “mama”, he also babbles some other cute things. He can walk around our living room table as long as he holds onto it and he’s very active, loves playing. He is still shy with new people. He eats soft fruits and veggies that we eat and really soft cereal thats soaked in milk. He has his two bottom, front teeth in.

I knew my daughter would love going on the carousel at the mall nearby so I took her to the mall just for that purpose! She has gone on it before but it had been a while so I wanted to refresh her memory about how fun it is. She had the most happy smile she ever had in her whole life. It’s amazing how easy it is to make kids happy. She went on the carousel twice and then we looked around for a while and took her in the Disney Store. She got a new pair of sunglasses and we got the baby a cute outfit. It was a cute little trip.
Her happy smile.

During the beginning of last week it was in the 100’s and so obviously it was very hot. Then when Wednesday rolled in it was cold, windy, raining and hailing! Our electricity got knocked out around 4 pm because one of the transformers got struck by lightning and so we didn’t have electricity until the next morning. It was unbelievable, you don’t realize how important electricity is until you don’t have it.
In addition to that we also didn’t have hot water that morning because for some reason there was a leak, but that wasn’t too bad, I barely noticed because it was fixed rather quickly.
On a more lighter note my little boy started to get a tooth in on the bottom about a week ago and now both bottom ones are actually popping in. My daughter started getting hers in around 6 months but that’s okay. He’s developing so quickly he just doesn’t have time for teeth haha There is no doubt in my mind that he is going to be walking before age 1. He will probably start around 10 months. He’s an expert at grabbing onto things and pulling up. He’s an expert climber (hence the gate at the bottom of my stairs), been an expert crawler forever and just has an adorable little personality. He is also getting more and more interested in the food we eat. He loves all of the veggies, fruits and cereals that I give him but he is still using his bottle. Although im introducing him to water in a sippy cup.
He plays little games with us and especially his sister, he loves peek-a-boo, being cuddled, being chased and chewing on stuff!

My daughter is a really quick learner and has many surprises in store everyday! Pretty soon she’ll be teaching me things hehe But anyways, she pretty much knows the whole alphabet now. She doesn’t know the order yet but when I point to a letter she can tell me exactly what it is. There are only about a maximum of 5 that she isn’t really sure about. She also confuses M with W sometimes.

Her daddy got her this little learning computer that tells you to find the different letters on the keyboard and then to click them. It’s funny to hear her playing with that thing and then hearing “excellent, P is for piano.” She does really well on that thing and it also teaches numbers and a lot of other things that you usually learn later in kindergarten.

My son is crawling like a pro now, he started picking it up last month but now he’s super quick. He is also starting to stand up already. He can grab onto one of my daughter’s short chairs and then pull himself up. Then he just stands there babbling about how proud he is haha He also can grab onto the bottom stair and pull up on that which makes me nervous because he’s going to start climbing them. I am going to have to start putting the gate up so he can’t.

My daughter did really well at her appointment last Monday. I thought she would be more upset about certain things but she was very cooperative. Although a little baby was crying in the next room and that kind of scared her.
This was the first time where they actually took her blood pressure and she didn’t like that at all because she said it hurt her arm.. but afterwards the nurse went and got her a sticker. Then when the doctor came in to see her he said she was all up to date on shots so she didn’t get any this time but she did get a lab sheet and need to give blood to check it for iron, it’s something they do every year. When we went to the lab to get the blood drawn she screamed when they started taking the blood but right afterwards she calmed down and said she felt better. She got like 3 stickers for that one! She also had to pee in a cup which was funny, I’m not sure if they expected her to be able to do it or not but she did it.
While at her doctors the nurse also did a quick eye check thing to try and pick up any signs to see if she needed a referral to an eye doctor. They ended up giving us one because she wouldn’t say what the shapes were when she was far back and the nurse just thought she didn’t know the shapes but when she moved closer she told the nurse what they were. The doctor also said we could start taking her to the Dentist.
So her next check up will be when she is 4 and she’ll get some shots and things then..

Thomas went for his 6 month check up this morning and is growing excellently still. He is about 27 inches long and 18 pounds 7 ounces. He didn’t get as many shots as last time but there were a few. He got his last of the oral rota virus one, another one plus the flu shot. It is getting towards the end of flu season but babies cannot get the flu shot until they are 6 months.. and they also need two doses the first time that they get it so we have to take him back in a month for his second one. The doctor said it does not hurt to get it this late in the season. Then his next check up is at 9 months.
Everyone is always in awe when they see him, saying he’s so cute and that they love his blue eyes. Amanda’s grandma even said that he was so cute he could be a baby model lol She is always telling me what a beautiful family I have though.

I’ve given my son both peas and carrots now. No reaction so far.. I spaced them out about 3 days apart. First I tried peas and waited, now carrots. I’m not so sure he liked them at first and if you would’ve seen his face you would’ve wondered the same thing lol I’m using stage 1 of Beechnut right now and I honestly think the convenience of buying the jar foods is worth it. They are only about 45 cents and possibly cheaper at other places and during sales.
I’m choosing to give him vegetables before fruits so that he doesn’t get used to the sweetness of fruits and then does not want the vegetables. Well after a week of introducing him to these flavors he has begun to enjoy them more, or so it seems. He only eats about a half of a jar at a time or 1/3 of one and they are pretty tiny. I’m going to introduce him to a few more veggies like sweet potatoes and maybe green beans then move on to some fruits. He also still eats some baby cereal in the morning. He’s become such an expert at eating from a spoon now.

My son is 6 months today, It’s amazing how much he’s grown! It sort of makes me sad that hes growing so quick because I miss him being so tiny but at the same time I am proud of what he’s becoming. What he is becoming is an extremely smart, cuddly and cute little boy. He can brighten up anyones day with his cute little smile.
He is going to crawl any day it seems. Even though he can’t exactly “crawl”, he still seems to find his way around perfectly on our living room floor. He scoots himself around and also gets on his hands and knees and sorta plops/leaps forward lol He’s very talkative and googly and loves to laugh. He can also sit for a short period while leaning forward and putting his hands onto the floor in order to hold himself up.
His 6 month check up is next Monday and although I always dread the shots for him I know it’ll be okay and I will be writing about how his check up goes later. I will also be writing about how he’s moved on to more solids.
