11 Months Old

My son turned 11 months old today, it seems like it was just yesterday that I had him. He certainly has changed a lot and although I thought he would be walking completely alone by now, he practically does. If something slides easily on the floor he pushes and walks with it and It’s pretty cute. He will also let go of whatever he is holding onto for a few seconds as he switches from holding onto the couch, to the table so I guess it is just a comfort thing. He also copies about every single thing we do, whether it is saying a certain sound, making a funny face or doing a certain action. He understands how things work easily and he turns our t.v. on and off and then stares back at us like, “Yeah I just did that.” One of his favorite things is rolling on pillows and blankets that are on the floor, sometimes he will fall asleep next to me like that if I’m just relaxing on the floor.

He certainly does have an adorable personality and is pretty sure of himself. Being that he has an older sister who takes every toy he gets his hands on he’s also a bit defensive and expresses it well haha I’m sure he will look up to her when he gets older but right now it seems like he just wants his own space. He plays a lot calmer and happily when he is all by himself but there are the occasional times where he wants to jump on and hug his sister, he’s such a cutie. He’s still got the same two teeth and I’m starting to wonder where the rest are haha I’m going to be introducing him to whole milk in the next month, even though he’s eaten many of our foods it still doesn’t seem like enough so he still needs the formula.

New Baby Gate

My son has been mobile for many, many months now and I have been meaning to get a long enough gate to cover the really long opening that leads from my living room to our kitchen and dining area but I just never got around to it. I kind of thought he might grow out of it and quit going towards the kitchen area but he hasn’t and deep down I knew he wouldn’t haha Well I cook often and every time I do he comes wondering in and it’s pretty dangerous so we just invested in a gate the other day.

I wanted to get a long enough gate to fit the span I needed but Tommy said that there would be an issue with the studs and that it might just fall right out of the wall if it were tugged on, so we just got a round gate thing that we can put him in. It’s pretty large and kinda like the “Rug Rats” one.  I only put him in it if I am going to be cooking or doing dishes that way I know he is safe and I don’t have to worry about him coming in when things are hot on the stove. So I am pretty happy and glad we added this new addition to our home!

Here is a picture of it and some random kid (picture from the website)

My Daughter Wearing Her Glasses

Posted by: Fallon

August 13th, 2008 >> Children

My daughter has been wearing her new glasses now for almost 2 months and it is almost time to go back to her eye doctor for a check up. He’s just going to see how she is doing in them and if any changes in her prescription need to be made. Her glasses have made it almost 2 months and aren’t broken yet either, she does really well in them. She doesn’t mind wearing them at all and has them on most of the time. I just need to clean them a lot because she gets finger prints and stuff on them a lot from pushing them up.

Since she’s still small the glasses kind of fit on her face weird and slide down. They even adjusted them at the place and it still happens, I might go for another style next time and maybe that will fit her face better. Another tiny little issue we have with the glasses is that her baby brother sometimes grabs them off her face, he does that to me as well sometimes. Well here is a cute little picture of her in them, enjoy!

Upcoming Birthday

Posted by: Fallon

August 9th, 2008 >> Children

I can’t believe my son is going to be 1 so soon, It’s sad and exciting at the same time. My precious baby is getting old! I want his first birthday to be special though so I am going to have a nice little party for him. I’ll probably just have something at my place with a few people.

I want the theme of his party to be baby mickey, that sounds really cute but we will see. So there’s going to be some decorations, a cake, some gifts.. yeah it should be fun! I’m not really sure what type of gifts to get him, since he’s still changing and stuff but I suppose clothes would be good. I guess I will just look for some age appropriate toys that I think he’d enjoy. He’s a very smart baby so maybe I could get him something more advanced for his age.

Anyways..just a little rant about his upcoming birthday, I hope it is wonderful.

New Car Seat

July 27th, 2008 >> Children

We bought my son a new car seat a while back because he was still using his infant seat and was quickly growing out of it. I want my children to be as safe as possible and in order for that to happen they need to be in the proper seat for them! His infant seat goes up to 22 pounds and 29 inches. Last time we went to the doctor’s he was about 19 pounds and 28 inches.. that was about a month ago so I know he has grown since then.

This new car seat goes up to 100 something pounds so this is the last one he will ever need. It also seems much more comfortable for him because it isn’t as confining and he can look around. He is still rear facing but it just seems a lot better. It also seems very durable and is very nice looking. It is the same brand as my daughter’s, just a different style. I need to take some pictures of him in it later!

Reorganizing Children’s Room

Posted by: Fallon

July 22nd, 2008 >> Children

So I decided to organize the children’s bedroom better so that they have more play room! I was able to get the whole middle of the room available so there is more play area… They just have so many things and as they get older they continue to get more. I’m not really sure what I am going to do with all the baby toys when the baby isn’t interested in them anymore plus all of the clothes I have for both of them.

I suppose I will have to hand the stuff down to someone or donate it but I really hate to give up perfectly good stuff. I may need to use it again in the future, you never know.  I also hung up some pictures that I had around for them that I never got the chance to hang. So their room is looking pretty cozy and roomy right now and I’m satisfied and so are they! My daughter was a big help when I was organizing as well.
